WCP ThroughBore Powered by CANcoder

by R. C. on October 25, 2024

WCP ThroughBore by CANcoder (1/2" Hex) → is a product developed in conjunction with Cross the Road Electronics. This rotary sensor allows teams to measure relative or absolute position of a shaft installed through the rotation portion of the device. Designed to make integration into standard FRC ecosystems a breeze, there are countless ways to utilize this sensor.

Features

  • Off-axis encoding technology
  • No backlash between sensor and sensing element
  • Small footprint, fits in the shadow of 1” wide structure
  • Mechanical zero that aligns to both notches of the hex bore and the outer case
  • LED light pipe to display state of the encoder
  • Latching Molex SL connector, with cable included
  • Compatible with CTR software and Phoenix Pro

Physical Specifications

The WCP ThroughBore by CANcoder (1/2" Hex) is designed to have a minimal footprint while giving teams a practical mounting solution with the mounting bolt location being 1" from the center of the 1/2" hex bore. This means that the encoder is in line with WCP’s 1/2" Pitch Spacing Standards.

In addition, there is a 3/8" hex counterbore on either side of this mount hole, allowing it to hold a standard #10-32 nylock nut in place, eliminating the need for a wrench to hold a nut in place when mounting the sensor.

Port Overview

The 6-pin Molex SL port allows you to power the WCP ThroughBore by CANcoder (1/2" Hex) while having CAN Input and CAN output in the same housing, making daisy chaining a breeze.

Swerve Integration

The encoder is able to be utilized on both the new X2 and X2S swerve modules. Check out the documentation pages for both modules and the encoder to see application examples of this.
